European Tour Properties Senior Classic - in numbers

We have crunched the numbers to bring you a selection of the relevant facts and figures ahead of this week’s European Tour Senior Classic at Lighthouse Golf and Spa Resort.

1 –There has been one previous winner of the European Tour Properties Senior Classic. Santiago Luna won the first staging of the event last year at Linna Golf Course in Finland, finishing one shot clear of joint runners-up André Bossert and Miguel Angel Martin.

2 –This is the second venue to stage the event after Linna last year. The tournament rotates around venues in the European Tour Properties’ portfolio of destinations, showcasing some of the world’s best golf resorts.

6,932 –The length, in yards of the course at Lighthouse Golf and Spa Resort. The shortest hole is 165-yard 17th, while the longest is the 591-yard par five third.

28 –There are 28 venues in European Tour Properties’ world class network of Destinations. The venues span over three continents with Destinations in the United Kingdom, Russia, Mauritius, Portugal and many more.

250,000 –The players will be competing for a €250,000 prize fund in Bulgaria this week.

10 –Lighthouse Golf and Spa Resort will be celebrating their tenth anniversary this year. The venue opened in 2006, with the help of Ian Woosnam, who assisted in the design of the golf course. In celebration of the milestone, there will be an anniversary dinner after the second round of the tournament on Saturday.

1,222 –The distance, in miles, between Lighthouse Golf and Spa Resort and Linna Golf Course, where last year’s European Tour Properties Senior Classic was held.

2013 –The last, and only, time a European Tour event was held in Bulgaria. The 2013 Volvo World Match Play Championship took place at Thracian Cliffs Golf and Beach Resort where Graeme McDowell defeated Thongchai Jaidee in the final.

3 –Last year’s European Tour Properties Senior Classic victory for Santiago Luna was his third Staysure Tour win. He had previously triumphed at the SSE Scottish Senior Open in 2013 and the 2014 ISPS HANDA PGA Seniors Championship. He won in Finland last year by posting a ten under par total.
