The shot of the morning came from Poulter, who sent his approach at the ninth to within a foot of the hole on his way to regaining his two-hole lead.
The 40 year old then lost the next hole after failing to make par, but bounced back in style, taking the 11th and 12th to go three up as he looks to earn a point for the third day in a row.
