Estonian Golf & Country Club, part of the European Tour Properties network, will play host to some of Europe’s leading amateurs this summer as it stages the International European Mid-Amateur Championship.
The competition, held by the European Golf Association (EGA), was inaugurated in 1991 and attracts the top amateurs over the age of 35 from across the continent, and the three-day event will come to Estonian Golf & Country Club from June 7-9.
This will be the EGA’s first competition to be held in Estonia and players, officials and spectators can expect a warm welcome to the country and in particular from the Estonian Golf Union and Estonian Golf & Country Club.
The highly acclaimed Sea Course – ranked in Golf World’s Top 100 Golf Courses in Europe – will provide a stern but enjoyable test as it winds its way through forest before opening up alongside the coastline of the Gulf of Finland and Jägala River Delta.
Along the way golfers negotiate trees, well placed water, cunningly situated bunkers and a number of ancient granite boulders left dotted around the venue following the last ice age.
Some of the world’s best golfers have been tested by the Sea Course, with Estonian Golf & Country Club hosting the Omega Mission Hills World Cup European Qualifier in 2009 and 2011.

Estonian Golf & Country Club is situated just 20 minutes from the beautiful capital city of Tallinn – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – listed as an ‘exceptionally complete and well preserved example of a medieval northern European trading city’.
The club also boasts a nine hole links style course – The Stone Course – hewn from an ancient archaeological site. As a European Tour Course, the venue boasts first-class facilities, including a contemporary, award-winning clubhouse enjoying panoramic views over both courses and the Jägala River delta beyond.
The International European Mid-Amateur Championship is open to males over 35 years of age from across the continent with a handicap of five or better. The closing date for entries is April 30.
