Edouard Espana claimed a one stroke advantage at 12 under par through nine holes on the second day of Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, after a one and a half hour suspension to the start of play due to electrical activity in the area.
The Frenchman fired an eight under par opening round of 64 on Thursday thanks to six birdies and an eagle, and he continued in a similar vein on day two.
Espana started his round from the tenth with a couple of pars to maintain his overnight position, before a second eagle of the week at the par five 12th hole saw him kick into top gear.
A first birdie of the day followed at the 13th to pull the Frenchman alongside The Netherlands' Daan Huizing, who is yet to start after an opening round of 61, before Espana closed out his front nine with a further red figure at 18 to take a narrow lead.
Also going well in France is Espana's compatriot, Benjamin Hebert. The three time winner from 2011 is two under par for his second round so far, having played just six holes, and he is four back at eight under.
Hebert is alongside America's Chan Kim in a current tie for fourth, after a birdie and an eagle of his own, having started from the tenth.
Also on that mark is Korea's Sihwan Kim, but he has only played three holes so far.
