Former Ryder Cup player Paul Broadhurst will defend the title he won in stunning fashion last year, as the Senior Open Championship makes an eagerly anticipated return to Royal Porthcawl.
Ryder Cup legend Bernhard Langer put on a masterclass three years ago on the first visit to the classic Welsh links as he won his second Senior Open Championship by a record 13 strokes.
He will be bidding to become the third man in history to lift the championship on three occasions, placing him alongside legends Gary Player and Tom Watson.

In line to make their championship debuts are fellow former European captains Paul McGinley and José María Olazábal, with Senior Open regulars Mark James, Sam Torrance and Ian Woosnam making up the list of former captains and players.
Entrants for the 2017 Senior Open Championship must be 50 on or before Thursday, July 27, 2017, the first round of the event. Those not exempt will attempt to qualify at Ashburnham, Machynys, Pyle & Kenfig or Southerndown on Monday, July 24, 2017.
A total of 395 golfers took part in Monday qualifying ahead of last year’s Senior Open Championship, with 38 earning their spots at Carnoustie. One notable qualifier was Emos Korblah, who became the first golfer to represent Ghana at the Senior Open after successfully making it through the qualifying.
In 2004, American Pete Oakley finished tied fourth of 20 qualifiers from 132 starters at Portstewart in Northern Ireland, before going on to lift the trophy as a rank outsider at Royal Portrush six days later.
