South African legend Els, widely known in the golfing world as ‘the Big Easy’, will be playing in the event for the first time since 1994, with the tournament now in its second year at its new German home.

The 46 year old was made a lifetime member of the European Tour in 1999 and among his many illustrious achievements in the game – including two Open Championships and two U.S. Open Championship wins – he spent a record 758 consecutive weeks in the top ten of the Official World Golf Ranking.

Irishman Harrington was runner-up in the European Open in consecutive years in 2001 and 2002 when it was played at the K Club and will also be making his debut in Bad Griesbach.

The 45 year old will be playing his final event before heading to The Ryder Cup where he will act as one of Darren Clarke’s vice-captains for Team Europe.
