Edberg catches Olesen

Pelle Edberg joined fellow Scandinavian Thorbjørn Olesen at the top of an increasingly congested AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open leaderboard as the third round began at Heritage Golf Club.

In damp conditions on the island in the Indian Ocean, overnight leader Olesen bogeyed the first after coming up short of the green with his approach and leaving his chip eight feet shy of the hole.

The 25 year old Dane, making his return from a three-month injury absence, parred the second, but had been caught by Swedish playing partner Edberg on eight under par.

They were one ahead of South Africa’s George Coetzee, who holed a lengthy birdie effort on the second and got up-and-down at the driveable fifth to reach seven under, and Singapore’s Mardan Mamat, who was three under for his round through eight holes.
