Eagle lands Els May Shot of the Month crown

Ernie Els made good use of his local knowledge at Wentworth Club en route to landing the Shot of the Month award for May as voted for by My European Tour fans.

Having redesigned much of the West Course, including the green complex at the par four eighth hole the four time Major Champion took dead aim during round one of the BMW PGA Championship, skipping in a low flighted wedge that grabbed on the third bounce and span back into the hole for an unlikely eagle two.

The South African’s pin point play earned him the award for May, while one lucky fan who chose his winning effort won a stay and play break for two to at Le Golf National – a European Tour Destination, host of the Alstom Open de France and venue for The 2018 Ryder Cup.

As the May winner, Els will now go forward as a contender for the Shot for the Year prize that was won by Louis Oosthuizen in 2012 thanks to his stunning albatross two in the final round of the Masters Tournament.

Also included in the end of season contest will be Chris Wood (January), Charl Schwartzel (February), Anders Hansen (March) and Maximilian Kieffer (April).
