The European Senior Tour will return to The Netherlands from October 11-13, with the Dutch Senior Open, held at The International near Schiphol Airport, added to the 2013 schedule.

Designed by Ian Woosnam, the former Masters Champion and Ryder Cup Captain, The International will host a Senior Tour event for the first time, having staged the Deloitte Ladies Open earlier this year.

Sixty Senior Tour professionals will compete for the €200,000 prize fund and they will play alongside an amateur partner for the first two rounds.

The tournament will be the eighth Senior Tour event to be played in The Netherlands and follows on from the Van Lanschot Senior Open, previously played at The Royal Haagsche G&CC from 2010 – 2012.

The Dutch Senior Open will be sponsored by Rabobank, Achmea and the Dutch Golf Federation, while the tournament will be organised by TIG Sports, which also promotes the KLM Open and the Deloitte Ladies Open.

Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Senior Tour, said: “We are delighted that TIG Sports have maintained this unique event on the European Senior Tour schedule and we thank them, and all the other sponsors of this tournament, for their valued commitment. This year will be the first time we have visited The International, which was designed by one of our leading players, Ian Woosnam, and it promises to be a superb week in The Netherlands.”

Pieter van Doorne, Tournament Director of the Dutch Senior Open, said: “These famous golf legends are able to connect playing golf at a very high level in sporty and friendly atmosphere, and that is what makes this tournament so special for the spectators. Besides that, The International is an ideal course for spectators, as we have seen earlier this year during the Deloitte Ladies Open. For the guests of the sponsors, the Dutch Senior Open is the ultimate golf experience: participating in an official tournament on the European Senior Tour.”

Marcel Welling, of The International, said: “We are very proud that the European Senior Tour has decided to play on The International. That both the Ladies European Tour and the European Senior Tour are finding The International ideally suitable for top tournaments is a confirmation that we have managed to create a golf course of the highest level.”
