Paul Dunne opened up a one-shot lead as Jeff Winther surged through the field early on day two of the Open de España.
The Irishman entered Friday in a share of top spot but four birdies in his first nine holes moved him to ten under, one ahead of Dane Winther who had picked up six strokes in his first ten.
England's Callum Shinkwin was then at eight under, a shot clear of local favourite Nacho Elvira, German Maximilian Kieffer, Australian Brett Rumford and Swede Henric Sturehed.
Cold conditions greeted the players once again but a softened up course at Centro Nacional de Golf allowed for low scoring and both Dunne and Winther took advantage.
Dunne had picked up three shots in his last three holes on Thursday and there was no let-up in round two as he opened with another gain. Further birdies followed on the 12th, 15th and 17th as he turned in 32.
Winther birdied the first and while a par followed on the second he picked up four shots in his next three holes, going birdie-birdie-eagle from the third. Another birdie was to come on the seventh and he turned in 30 to surge up the leaderboard.
Shinkwin was bogey-free for his first six seven holes, making birdies on the tenth, 13th and 15th.
Kieffer was the only player in the top seven with a blemish on the card but he still moved to four under for the day with birdies on the first, second, fourth, fifth and seventh.
Elvira had gains on the 13th, 15th and 17th, Rumford made the most of the same holes and Sturehed claimed birdies on the fourth and fifth.
Trevor Fisher Jnr, Ricardo Gouveia, Mike Lorenzo-Vera, Aaron Rai and Paul Waring were alongside co-overnight leader and later starter Marc Warren at six under.
