Dunhill Links: Day 1 in numbers

168 players. Three courses. Zero clouds in sight. It was a pretty special opening day at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. It was two young pros making their first professional starts that stole the headlines but here's a look at all the best facts and figures from today's opening round.

64- Low score of the day shot by Paul Dunne, Jimmy Mullen and Kristoffer Broberg.

0- Combined previous professional rounds from Walker Cup teammates Dunne and Mullen. Both are making their first starts in the paid ranks this week.

205- The yardage of the 15th hole at Kingsbarns, which Paul Dunne aced today. It was the tenth hole in one ever at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and the first at that hole.

68- Low round of the day at Carnoustie, courtesy of Martin Kaymer, Thorbjorn Olesen, Marc Warren and Chris Stroud.

89- Of the 168 players in the field broke par on the opening day (53 per cent).

72.45- The average score at Carnoustie, the hardest of the three courses. St Andrews played to an average of 71.90 whilst Kingsbarns yielded a 70.08 average.

615- Total birdies today, compared to just 446 bogeys.

1- Eagle for Graeme McDowell. Amazingly his three on the par five 12th hole at Carnoustie was the Northern Irishman's first eagle of the season (47 rounds).

64- The length of feet of Jamie Dornan's amazing eagle on the 18th hole at the Old Course.Watch it here.

3- For Ronan Keating on the final hole at Carnoustie. It was the hardest hole for the professionals today, playing to an average of 4.41.He was pretty happywith his putt too.

59- The lowest score in the better ball Pro-Am shot by Moritz Lampert and Christer Lihammar.

340- Yard driving distance for John Daly, who won The Open at the Old Course 20 years ago.

16- Fairways hit by Oliver Farr in his opening round. Usually impossible but with just two par threes on the short course, he was able to hit the short grass on the 14 par fours and two par fives.

18- Greens in regulation for Nacho Elvira, the only man to not miss a green all day.
