Victor Dubuisson fought back from losing the opening two holes, but Jason Day still held a slender advantage at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship final.

The Frenchman had recovered from three down after four to win his semi-final against Ernie Els one up, and found himself in similar trouble as Day took the first two with birdies.

Dubuisson, the first Frenchman to reach the final of this event and looking to become the first golfer from his country to win a World Golf Championships, fought back with a couple of gutsy putts at the next two, but missed a six footer to go one up at the fifth.

And Australian Day, who earlier ran out a 3 and 2 winner against Rickie Fowler, punished the Turkish Airlines Open winner for failing to find the green at the short sixth to go ahead once more.

In the third-place play-off, Els had gone two down through five but holed a 15 foot putt at the next to remain in touch.
