Donald climbs into contention

World Number One Luke Donald charged into contention as the leaders began their third rounds at the US PGA Championship.

The Englishman, who leads both the European and American money lists but wants a first Major more than either of those accolades, recovered well from a bogey on the second.

He birdied the next three and with another on the ninth for an outward 32 was up to joint tenth place on two under.

That was three behind overnight leaders Jason Dufner and Keegan Bradley, who were just teeing off.

World Number Two Lee Westwood, one under at halfway, resumed with three pars, while stablemate Simon Dyson birdied the second and fourth to reach two under, but then double-bogeyed two holes later.

Italy’s Francesco Molinari carded a 67 to reach level par for the week, but it could have been so much better had he not bogeyed two of the last three holes at Atlanta Athletic Club.

Donald's day became even better when he made a 30 footer at the 14th and, five under for the round, improved to joint fourth - only a stroke off the pace.

It was now a three-way tie ahead of him, Australian John Senden starting with a birdie to join Dufner and Bradley.

Westwood's first birdie came when he almost chipped in at the long fifth, the ball rolling three feet past.
