Dodt surges ahead in Beau Champs

Andrew Dodt opened up a commanding four-shot lead midway through the third round of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

Four Seasons Golf Club at Anahita has proved a tough test in windy conditions all week and defending champion George Coetzee had said before the tournament that he doubted anyone would get to double-figures under par.

But Dodt reached ten under on the front nine on Saturday as he turned in 34 to establish a comfortable cushion ahead of Jeunghun Wang.

The Australian had made just two cuts in his six events this season but has two European Tour wins to his name and looked in imperious form on the east coast of Maritius in an event which is co-sanctioned by the European, Asian and Sunshine Tours.

Dodt came into the third round with a three-shot lead but Wang soon trimmed that with a birdie on the second while Siddikur Rahman also moved to six under with gains on the first and fourth.

The Bangladeshi dropped back to three off the lead as he failed to get up and down for par on the next, but Dodt succeeded having missed the green and that seemed to spur the 30 year old on.

He put his approach to the sixth to eight feet for a birdie and when he got even closer on the seventh to make a gain on that hole for the third time this week, he was the first man into double figures.

Wang then missed the green on the par three eighth for a first bogey of the day but the South Korean picked the shot straight back up on the next.

Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts - who is attached to the Four Seasons and had used all his local knowledge to fire a brilliant 65 on Friday - was at three under after a typically topsy-turvy opening ten holes containing two birdies, a bogey and a double.

Scott Hend was putting a useful round together and he had picked up four shots in 15 holes to sit at two under alongside Oliver Bekker, with just six players under par.

Brandon Stone had earlier set the clubhouse target at level par with a 68.
