Dodt stays ahead in Beau Champs

Andrew Dodt held on to his lead at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open after another morning of difficult scoring at Four Seasons Golf Club at Anahita.

Dodt came into the second round with a two-shot lead after an excellent opening 66 and while Jeunghun Wang was able to cut that to one, none of the early starters could overhaul the Australian at the top of the leaderboard.

Wang recorded a round of 70 to get to five under, while Australian Dodt opened his second round with four pars to maintain a slim advantage.

The South Korean claimed a maiden European Tour win at the Trophée Hassan II last week and has brought that form with him to the east coast of Mauritius.

The 20 year old began his round with two pars on the back nine but then went birdie-eagle-birdie to catapult himself up the leaderboard and into the lead on his own.

A dropped shot on the next followed but five consecutive pars steadied the ship before bogeys on the third and sixth, the latter after a poor chip, restored Dodt's two-shot advantage.

A brilliant approach to the seventh helped cut the gap to one before he got up and down for a par save and missed a good birdie chance on the ninth.

Jeunghun Wang

Wang's round of 70 was one of just three under par efforts from the morning starters.

Bangladesh's Rahman Siddikur twice quickly bounced back from dropped shots to record a 72 and stay at four under while Indian Rashid Khan dropped from that score to two under thanks to bogeys on the second and third.

Englishman Chris Hanson, who held the lead heading into the final round in Morocco last week, was heading in the other direction and he picked up birdies on the 12th and 13th to sit two under after six holes.

Wallie Coetsee had a birdie on the second to also get to two under in the early stages of his second round while fellow South African Jbe Kruger parred the first.

Jaco Ahlers, Ruan de Smidt and Hennie Otto were then all in the clubhouse at one under.
