DID YOU KNOW – ALFRED DUNHILL LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP

• Martin Kaymer will aim to become the first player to successfully defend the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The German has already defended the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship this season. Should he win again in Scotland, he would become just the fourth golfer in European Tour history to successfully defend multiple tournaments in the same season. He would follow: Seve Ballesteros (1985-86 Irish Open and French Open), Ian Woosnam (1990-91 Mediterranean Open and Monte Carlo Open) and Tiger Woods (1999-2000 US PGA Championship and WGC – Bridgestone Invitational); 2001-02 Masters Tournament and Deutsche TPC); (2005-06 The Open Championship, WGC – Bridgestone Invitational and WGC – CA Championship); (2006-07 WGC – CA Championship, WGC – Bridgestone Invitational and US PGA Championship).

• To highlight the strength of the 2011 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, there are 15 players in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking, 13 Major Champions, eight European Tour Number Ones’ and 99 winners of European Tour events.
