DID YOU KNOW – AFRICA OPEN

• Defending champion, Louis Oosthuizen will be looking to claim his fourth European Tour title and ninth professional win in all. Six of his eight triumphs have been on home soil. The 2010 Open Champion will be looking to continue with his superb late season form of 2011, where he finished in the top eight in his last five consecutive European Tour events.

• Should he triumph again, he would join Ernie Els (2002-03-04 Heineken Classic), Trevor Immelman   (2003-04 South African Open Championship) and Charl Schwartzel (2010-11 Joburg Open), as South African players to make a successful defence of a European Tour title.

The South African Open Championship was the first tournament this feat was achieved. The years were: 2002, with Tim Clark and 2003-04 Trevor Immelman. Then again in 2005 with Tim Clark, Retief Goosen in 2006 and Ernie Els in 2007. (Ernie Els did with the World Match Play Championship in 1994-96 and in 2002-04. However, the event was only considered official in 2004).
