DID YOU KNOW – WGC – ACCENTURE MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

• Ian Poulter is trying to follow in the footsteps of Tiger Woods (2003-04) and make a successful defence of the WGC – Accenture Match Play Championship.

• Poulter has the best record of any Englishman in the history of the Championship. He has made seven appearances, winning in 2010, losing in the semi-final in 2004, reaching the quarter-final on his debut in 2004 and twice reaching round three in 2007 and 2009.

• The beaten finalist 12 months ago, Paul Casey, will try and go one better this year. He was also runner-up in 2009 to Geoff Ogilvy, making the Englishman the only player to lose successive finals.

• There will be 30 European Tour Members competing at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in 2011. Two of the 30 will be making their Accenture debuts. They are Matteo Manassero and Noh Seung-yul.

• Manassero will make history when he becomes the youngest player to appear in the WGC – Accenture Match Play Championship, aged 17 years and 310 days. The Italian beats the previous record held by Ryo Ishikawa, who was 18 years and 153 days when he made his debut in 2010.
