Home favourite David Law was crowned the inaugural winner of the Diageo round of the day following an excellent five under par opening 66 at the SSE Scottish Hydro Challenge hosted by Macdonald Hotels and Resorts.
The 27 year old went bogey-free on the first day at Macdonald Spey Valley Golf Club and bagged five birdies as he got the better of difficult conditions.
A panel of experts unanimously selected Law’s excellent round as the best performance on the first day of the competition in the Scottish Highlands.
Nick Rodger, on behalf of the panel, said: “It was a delightfully assembled round. On a tough day Law harnessed the testing conditions with great poise and a bogey-free round spoke volumes for the quality of his play.”
As a reward for his sublime showing Law receives a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label whisky – which will be awarded to each winner of the Diageo round of the day this week.
