Day two digest: Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters hosted by the Sergio Garcia Foundation

Real Club Valderrama may have shown its teeth on day two of the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters hosted by the Sergio Garcia Foundation but that didn't stop Christiaan Bezuidenhout - along with a few locals - making a big impression.

Real Club Valderrama

Here's everything you need to know from Friday in Sotogrande.

68 has Bez dancing

The morning may have seen the easier conditions but take nothing away from Bezuidenhout - this was a stunning display of golf. The South African dropped a single shot as he followed up his opening 66 with a 68 for a four shot lead. Only Brooks Koepka at the US PGA Championship has held a larger one after 36 holes on the 2019 Race to Dubai and Bezuidenhout - with a third and a second already this season - could be en route to his first European Tour win. "It’s going to be tough," he said. "It’s tough without wind so I’m just hoping to do the same, hit fairways and greens, give myself chances and see where I finish up."

Viva España

All eyes may be on host Sergio Garcia this week but he is not the only Spaniard making a big impression, with three of the four players in second coming from the host nation. Garcia has a Green Jacket among his 15 European Tour wins while Alvaro Quiros has seven victories of his own, making Adri Arnaus very much the junior of the Spanish gang at four under. But that did not stop the 24-year-old producing this piece of magic on the 17th green to get the crowd cheering. What a putt.

And speaking of monster putts..........

More Spanish hands

Yes I know we said it yesterday and yes we know everyone else says it but some things cannot be denied. Garcia produced that brilliant chip-in on the ninth and then Pablo Larrazábal went and did this. There must be something in the water, or maybe the Estrella Damm.

Min Woo Lee bucks the trend

They say football is a game of two halves but today so was golf. The second half of the draw to go out on Friday scored over a shot worse than those who went out in the morning, while seven of the nine holes on the back nine played over their par. Which is what makes Lee's achievement so remarkable. Not only did he fire the lowest round of the day in the afternoon with a 67 - seven shots better than the afternoon average - but he also came home in a three under par 33. Well played, sir.
