Everything you need to know from day three in South Africa.
Hennie stayed on top, Spanish eyes were smiling, the animals came out to play and Ross went for a ride on day three of the 2022 MyGolfLife Open hosted by Pecanwood.
Here is everything you need to know from Saturday at Pecanwood Golf and Country Club.
Du Plessis keeps his nose in front
Hennie du Plessis will go in search of a first DP World Tour victory in wire-to-wire style when he takes a two-shot lead into the final round. The South African was part of a four-way tie after a stunning 62 on day one and followed that with a 65 to take a one-shot lead into the weekend. He could not maintain that blistering pace in round three but a 70 was enough to move him to 19 under and give him the advantage over countryman Richard Sterne and Spaniards Adri Arnaus, Nacho Elvira and Pablo Larrazábal. "It was awesome, I haven’t played in front of a nice home crowd before so I really enjoyed every minute of it," he said. "You have to take it as it comes, just stick to your process, trust your targets, trust your lines, hope for the best and enjoy it."
Adri makes his move
Adri Arnaus matched the lowest round of his DP World Tour career to put himself right in contention for a maiden victory. The Spaniard finished runner-up three times in his rookie season in 2019 and added another second place as he lost out in a play-off on home soil to Rafa Cabrera Bello at last season's Acciona Open de España presented by Madrid. It did not look like he would have a chance to break his duck this week as he started 70-65 over a very low-scoring first two rounds but a third-round 64 has put him right in the mix. "We knew we had to go for a low one, especially around here, sometimes making a par feels like a bogey so definitely from the get-go we were ready for that and we performed so I'm happy," he said.
Spaniards keep the standards high
Heading into the final day two shots off the lead, you'd imagine Elvira and Larrazábal would be pretty pleased but a pair of 71s in a low-scoring week left the duo underwhelmed. "I don't think I played as well as I played the first two rounds, obviously the score shows that, but I didn't hit it as well off the tee as the first two days so I wasn't in the best spots to hit at the pins," said Elvira. Larrazábal's self-assessment was even more scathing. "I feel like if I played good today I would have some advantage going into Sunday," he said. "Today was one of those days to play decent to shoot decent, five, six, seven under and to be 22 or 23 going into tomorrow a few ahead." Those two will be determined to impress on day four.
Roller coaster for Ross
Birdie runs are the order of the week, with Elvira making seven in a row on day one and Ross Fisher started his third round with five on the spin. He could not quite maintain that pace as he signed for a 69 but - as the Englishman so nicely summed it up on social media - that's golf. He'll be after it on day four from four back.
Sums up today #MyGolfLifeOpen @DPWorldTour . After 5 🐦 in a row with 6ft for 6 in a row it went a little downhill. Unfortunately missed the shots in the wrong spot and short sided myself too many times. Pleased to hang in and make a couple late 🐦. All out attack tomorrow 💪🏻 pic.twitter.com/OaTKnZaDdZ

We love being in Africa
It's not just Leopard Creek Country Club that brings the animals out to play.
