66 - Bryson DeChambeau set the early clubhouse target with a 66 and maintained it to lead after 18 holes.

83- DeChambeau, the World Number 23, hit 83 per cent of Greens in Regulation.

2016- The American's 66 is his lowest European Tour round since a 64 at the 2016 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

1295- The 15th (632 yards) and 16th (663 yards) holes are back-to-back par fives, measuring a combined 1295 yards.

663- The 16th is the longest par five played on tour in Europe at 663 yards.

7583- This week's course measures 7583 yards in total, the joint-second longest on tour so far this season. Glendower Golf Club, host of the BMW SA Open, is longer at 7594 yards.

68- Norwegian Viktor Hovland, the World Amateur Golf Ranking Number Four, is four under after today's round of 68. The 20 year old caught the eye with his unique swing.

- There are two brothers in the field this week, Danish amateurs Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard. The former is three under after 18 holes.

2- On the subject of brothers, Edoardo Molinari and Chase Koepka played together today. The duo are the brothers' of the last two Major Championship winners, Francesco and Brooks respectively.

19- Alex Fitzpatrick, brother of four-time European Tour winner Matt, is in the field this week. The amateur is just 19 years of age.

40- 2018 marks 40 years since the first European Open was held. Bobby Wadkins won in a three-man play-off in 1978.
