Thomas Bjørn would love to see a Danish winner this week at the third edition of the Made in Denmark at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort.
The tournament has been a huge success since joining the European Tour’s Race to Dubai, with big crowds flocking to Farsø to cheer on not just the Danish players but all members of an elite field.
Scot Marc Warren and England's David Horsey have so far got their hands on the trophy, with Bjørn finishing fourth in 2014 and Søren Kjeldsen securing a runner-up finish last season.
Bjørn is the most successful Dane in European Tour history with 15 wins and, with Kjeldsen and Thorbjørn Olesen both in the top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking, a strong Danish challenge can be expected again
A home win would delight the crowds on Sunday afternoon, and Bjørn is also keen to see some local success.
"It would be brilliant and it probably at some stage needs that," he said. "People are certainly capable of doing it. You would love to see one of the young Danes come through and win a tournament and it would be great if they did it here. It would propel them on to bigger things.
"This country can't keep relying on Søren and me, and Soren (Hansen) and Anders (Hansen). We need a new breed of players. We obviously have that with Thorbjørn and Lucas (Bjerregaard) and Morten (Orum Madsen), but they still need to elevate it and become consistent at the top.
"So I'd love to see one of those guys make the Ryder Cup team in a couple of years time and we get a bunch of new guys coming though."
Bjørn has played an integral part in the staging of the tournament since its launch, and is immensely proud of what has been achieved in a short space of time.
"It's brilliant," he said. "I don't think we ever really thought we were capable of delivering such a good tournament. I remember when it was talked about and I sat with George O'Grady and Keith Waters and we talked about a tournament here, but we never thought we could deliver it at these levels.
"The perception of Made in Denmark among the players is unbelievable. They actually want to come and play. You don't get that very often. You get certain events that players play because of the prize fund, or the golf course, or they need to play. But people choose to play this event because they want to come here."

The 45 year old is not the only Dane excited to be teeing it up on home soil, with Bjerregaard and Olesen both delighted to be back in Farsø.
"It is a great week and one us Danes look forward to all year," said Bjerregaard. "I've got friends and family coming and some are staying in the camping site, so there is plenty going on.
"It is a busy week for us Danes but it is a great week and the course looks fantastic. We are all looking forward to it."
"The first two years were amazing," added Olesen. "We really feel the crowds are cheering you on and the support is fantastic. You want to do well and be up there and compete. You want to give them something to cheer.
"The whole set up has been awesome the first two years and it looks great again this year, so we are hoping for a good tournament."
