The Spaniard, a two-time Challenge Tour winner, is hoping to add a third title to his name this week as the event heads to Askersunds Golfklubb, a new venue on the Road to Mallorca.

The 32-year-old finished in a share of 12th place at the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge last week and is searching for another strong finish as he looks to climb the Rankings as the season reaches a critical stage.

Cuartero Blanco produced a birdie at the last to seal the title last year, and is drawing on fond memories as he hopes to continue his upturn in form..

“I felt a lot of the pressure at the end but fun at the same time”, he said. “Having my family there, it was emotional. I just want to do the same thing as last year. I would love to repeat it.”

“This year has not been a great year. I had a really bad start and wasn’t really in a great place mentally, but thankfully over the last couple of months I’ve found that positive energy around me to make better decisions.

“Anything can happen, and I have good hopes as we come to the end of the season.”

Cuartero Blanco may be returning to the Dormy Open as the defending champion, but a new course will provide a  new challenge.

“I’m really excited to tee off on Thursday to see how I do and enjoy this different course,” he added.

“It’s really wet at the minute so there’s not much roll and there’s high rough so we have to be in the fairways, otherwise it’s going to be challenging to go for pins or attack your spots. I think driving this week is going to be key.”

Cuartero Blanco joins a strong field in Sweden that includes Road to Mallorca Number 11 and home favourite Jesper Svensson, two-time DP World Tour winner Lucas Bjerregaard and seven-time DP World Tour winner Alvaro Quiros.
