Course record for Kjeldsen and Finch

England's Richard Finch and Dane Søren Kjeldsen broke the course record at The Royal Golf Club in Bahrain during the final round of the Volvo Golf Champions.

Lying 56th and 62nd respectively overnight, neither player had any realistic hopes of winning the new European Tour title, but by carding nine under par rounds of 63 the pair significantly increased their prize money and showed the leaders what was possible on the Colin Montgomerie-designed lay-out.

Finch was all the way up for a tie for tenth and Kjeldsen a share of 18th as the leaders began their final rounds.

Darren Clarke had birdied the first to join overnight leaders Peter Hanson and Paul Casey.

Former 3 Irish Open winner Finch did most of his work on the front nine, where he picked up five birdies and an eagle in an outward 29.

He added two more gains on the back nine in a bogey-free round, while Kjeldsen had five birdies on the way out and four coming home in a similarly blemish-free round.
