Kevin Kisner maintained his one-shot advantage as he started with four pars in the final round of the US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club.
The American has never had a top ten in a Major Championship before but was looking to go wire-to-wire after entering Sunday in Charlotte at seven under.
He stayed at that mark, a shot ahead of countryman Chris Stroud and two clear of Japan's Hideki Matsuyama.
Italian Francesco Molinari, South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen and American Justin Thomas were then at four under.
Matsuyama missed a makable birdie opportunity on his first hole but that was better than Thomas - who bogeyed the opener after bunker trouble - and Stroud who did the same after going over the back of the green.
Oosthuizen also bogeyed the first after finding a greenside bunker and he was joined at four under by Grayson Murray, who holed a 15-footer on the second.
Thomas then holed from similar range on the same hole to get back to five under but Matsuyama missed a six-footer and Kisner had a two -shot lead.
Murray double-bogeyed the fifth to tumble back but Molinari was heading in the other direction as birdies on the first and seventh moved him three off the lead.
Thomas made another bogey on the third to drop back but Stroud hit an excellent tee-shot into the fourth and the leader's advantage was down to one.
Sunghoon Kang, Patrick Reed and Gary Woodland were at three under, a shot clear of Murray.
