The President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso was among the first to congratulate The Ryder Cup team on its sensational triumph.
President Barroso, who spoke at the Opening Cermony at The Celtic Manor Resort, sent a message to European Captain Colin Montgomerie.
He said: “On behalf of the European Commission, I would like to offer my congratulations to you and your team for the stunning victory in the Ryder Cup this weekend.
“You have made the whole of Europe proud. You have led your team with passion, determination, great skill and outstanding sportsmanship. This victory will be remembered for many years to come.”
British Prime Minister David Cameron also sent a message to the victorious team on their "stunning" victory.
Captain Colin Montgomerie's side triumphed by the tightest of margins, 14 1/2-13 1/2, at Celtic Manor as Graeme McDowell held his nerve to beat Hunter Mahan 3&1 in the final match of the event's extra day.
And Mr Cameron said: "Congratulations to Colin Montgomerie and the Europe team on a stunning Ryder Cup victory."
It was the first time the event had ever gone beyond its regular three-day distance, due to 13 hours being lost in the Welsh rain on Friday and Sunday.
"After a stormy weekend, we will long remember the drama of the first ever Ryder Cup Monday played in the Welsh sunshine," Mr Cameron continued.
"Well done also to the crowd at Celtic Manor who more than played their part."
And one mesage which would have touched the hearts of all the team was a special message received from the legendary Seve Ballesteros.
"Congratulations Europe!," Ballesteros told his official website.
"What a magnificent event! Great Ryder Cup!"
Ballesteros, 53, who is recovering from a brain tumour and was unable to attend this year, played in eight Ryder Cups before masterminding Europe's victory over America as captain at Valderrama in 1997.
He said it was never going to be easy to beat the Americans this year, and he was very happy for captain Colin Montgomerie.
"Congratulations to all of you!" he said.
"It has been very exciting until the last minute.
"I have enjoyed watching great golf from both sides over the weekend. As I said on Thursday, the more difficult it is to win, the sweeter victory tastes.
"I'm sure all the players and European supporters are enjoying it.
"Well done Europe!"
Before this year's Ryder Cup began, the Europe team received an inspiring phone call from the Spaniard.
Montgomerie said the call was "motivational" and "passionate".
