As Official Charity to the Irish Open, CLIC Sargent NI hosted a reception at the famous Old Bushmills Distillery, attended by the charity’s Committee Members, European Tour officials, sponsors, friends and players involved in this week’s tournament.

CLIC Sargent Chief Executive, Lorraine Clifton, thanked all the charity’s supporters and benefactors involved in the Homes from Home Appeal which will benefit considerably from the funds raised during the Irish Open’s return to Northern Ireland for the first time in almost 60 years.

The Tour Players’ Foundation and the Darren Clarke Foundation were given a special vote of thanks by Barry McGuigan, the former WBA featherweight champion who has been a long-time Patron of CLIC Sargent following his own daughter’s successful battle with cancer.

European Tour Chief Executive George O’Grady replied on behalf of the Tour with Colum Egan, the Masters Distiller at Bushmills, also taking the floor to add a word of welcome.

Two properties have been identified for prospective purchase by CLIC Sargent to be used by cancer patients and their families who can stay together at stressful times while undergoing hospital treatment.
