Challenge Tour at the Masters - behind the stats

With all eyes of the golfing world firmly fixed on Augusta National for this week’s Masters Tournament, europeantour.com took an in-depth look at the Challenge Tour interest in the 2016 tournament – and very interesting it is too.

Not only is the currentNumber Two in the Road to Oman Rankings, Romain Langasque, in the field as reigning Amateur Champion, but 14 former Challenge Tour players are teeing it up in Georgia this week.

Among them is 2008 Masters Champion Trevor Immelman, making his 13thappearance in the event – a Challenge Tour record – while last year’s runner-up Justin Rose will be bidding to extend his lead at the top of the money list offormer Challenge Tour players at Augusta.

Rose and Ian Poulter have three top ten finishes each at Augusta, with Immelman contributing two and Louis Oosthuizen one for a grand total of nine from our former players in the 2016 field, who between them have the experience of 70 previous appearances to draw on.

With the annual mystique of azaleas, Amen Corner, the Butler Cabin, the Green Jacket and Rae’s Creek all returning this weekend, here’s hoping these Challenge Tour players can create some more Masters magic and add to these already impressive stats.
