The event, which is promoted by 4sports & Entertainment AG, will be staged at the stunning venue, in Bavaria, for a minimum of three years, and is the first Challenge Tour tournament to be played in Germany since the ECCO Tour Championship was held in Winsen in 2010.

The Hartl Resort boasts five 18-hole golf courses, three of which are designed by two-time Masters Champion Bernhard Langer, plus numerous hotels, spa facilities and restaurants.

Dominik Senn, CEO and Chairman of 4sports, said: “We are very excited to be the promoter of this new Challenge Tour event in Germany, and are pleased to be the agency that has brought such an important event back to a key golfing nation for the first time in many years.”

Volker Schwartz, Managing Director of the Hartl Resort, said: “We are extremely pleased with the news that the Challenge Tour will come to Germany and be held at the Hartl Resort.  We have been in discussions with the Challenge Tour and also 4sports for some months now, and are very pleased that we made the right impression with the Tour for them to feel confident that we can host a fantastic event for them here at the Hartl Resort.

“We also feel that it is very important for the future of German golf to have a significant event on the Challenge Tour schedule, as it will give our young national players the chance to succeed on the international stage.”

Alain de Soultrait, Director of the Challenge Tour, welcomed the return to Germany, adding: “With Martin Kaymer among our most celebrated graduates, it is only fitting that we should host a Challenge Tour event in Germany, so we are delighted that the stunning Hartl Resort Bad Griesbach has agreed to become a new host venue.

“With five courses to choose from – three of which were designed by Bernhard Langer – the resort is a golfer’s paradise, and I have no doubt that our Members will enjoy the opportunity of playing and staying there.

“As well as the resort we should thank the promoters 4sports & Entertainment AG, whose support and initiative has been one of the main driving forces in getting this tournament off the ground.”
