Spain’s Alejandro Cañizares and England’s Greg Owen are just one behind leader Will Claxton after the opening round of the Mayakoba Golf Classic in Mexico.
Cañizares, fresh from a top-ten finish at the Avantha Masters, carded a four under par 67 to join Owen and Americans Charles Howell III, Marc Turnesa, John Huh, Mark Anderson and Matt Every.
Korean Noh Seung-yul was a shot further back in a share of ninth, while Ryder Cup Captain José María Olazábal shot a one over par 72 at El Camaleon.
Claxton had four birdies in his first five holes en route to a leaderboard-topping score of 66.
