The PGA of Japan has decided to cancel the 2011 Handa Cup Senior Masters, which was supposed to be held at Ohmurasaki Golf Club from November 11 – 13, due to the aftermath of the massive earthquake and tsunami which struck northeastern Japan on an unprecedented scale.
This decision was made upon request of the International Sports Promotion Society, the sponsor of the Handa Cup Senior Masters, because one of their facilities was seriously damaged by the quake, and they are currently devoting themselves to helping people who suffered from the disaster. It is very unfortunate to announce the cancellation of the event, but we came down to this decision after considering the current situation.
The PGA of Japan will support, through golf, all the people in the disaster areas to recover. Our thoughts are with those who have suffered loss and bereavement.
