Can you name the 12 Open champions by emojis?

In honour of World Emoji Day on July 17th, we challenged fans on social media to name 12 Open champions by deciphering our emoji quiz. How many can you name?

The Claret Jug at Carnoustie

Every July, a golfer’s name is etched onto the Claret Jug as the Champion Golfer of the Year is named at The Open Championship. Whilst those names are now legends of the game and firmly secured in the history books, picking those winners based purely on emojis can be tricky.

Tuesday was World Emoji Day and in honour of the day, we posted the challenge below to our Twitter followers. The goal was to guess the 12 former Open champions by deciphering the emojis and their meanings.

Have a go and see how many of the twelve you can name.

Fans across social media enjoyed debating and posting the answers with a select few getting the full dozen correct.
