Ben Campbell will take a commanding four-shot lead into the weekend at the Fiji International presented by Fij Airways after a brilliant 66 on day two at Natadola Bay Golf Club.
A stunning 67 in high winds on day one gave him a share of the overnight lead and he followed that up with the joint-lowest round of the week so far to get to 11 under and take control at the halfway stage.
Australian Andrew Dodt was his closest challenger after the two-time European Tour winner fired a 70 to sit a shot ahead of countrymen Jarryd Felton and Terry Pilkadaris.
Campbell turned professional in 2012 but is making just his ninth Euroepan Tour start after seeing his career curtailed through injury and illness in recent seasons.
Two of his European Tour appearances came here in 2016 and 2017 - where he made the cut on both occasions - and he now has an excellent chance to improve on a best finish of 21st two years ago.
"I played really well out there," he said. "Got off to a nice start, which was good, birdied my second hole and just played really solid, kept the ball in play.
"I didn't hit really too many bad shots out there. The putter was feeling good, chipped it well and it was just keep the ball in play, so couldn't complain.
"Winning any event would help in some way, whether it's to get your status or secure status or get you into other events. I think the easy part's done, it's the tough part now to keep going."
The 26 year old birdied the second, fifth and seventh to turn in 33 and when he added further gains on the 11th, 12th and 14th his lead was up to five shots.
He made another birdie on the 17th and while he gave the shot back on the last, he was still in a commanding position.

When Maverick Antcliff holed a ten-footer on the ninth to turn in 30 after four birdies in a row, he was within two shots but the Australian fell back and it was Dodt who emerged as the closest challenger.
Birdies on the first, fifth and ninth saw him turn in 33 but he fell back with bogeys on the 14th and 15th before a nice chip set up a gain on the par five 17th.
Felton had been two shots closer to the lead after birdies on the 12th, 17th and first but he dropped shots on the fifth and ninth.
Pilkadaris made eight birdies in his round of 68 but also added four bogeys.
China's Wu Ashun had been within one shot of the early lead when he eagled the 17th to go with birdies on the 11th and 12th but the two-time European Tour winner also bogeyed the 18th before birdieing the third and dropping a shot on the eighth.
That left him at five under alongside Australians Nick Cullen, Steven Jeffress and Jake McLeod, Kiwis Harry Bateman and Nick Voke, and India's Gaganjeet Bhullar.
Siddikur Rahman made the 23rd hole-in-one of the season when the Bangladeshi holed a seven iron from 171 yards on the par three second.
