Caddie Programme helps transform lives in Kenya

Europeantour.com takes a look at the lives of street children in Mombasa, Kenya, who are being helped by the hard work and dedication of the Glad’s House Caddie Programme in conjunction with the Tour Players’ Foundation and the European Tour Caddies Association (ETCA).

For the first time last year the Tour Players’ Foundation, the charitable foundation of The European Tour and its Members, awarded a £7,000 grant to Glad’s House, which helped to get the Caddie Programme up and running and the ETCA soon pledged their support.

A trio of ETCA Caddies, Paul Cast, Ken Herring and Brian McConnell , travelled to the Vipingo Ridge Resort, situated some 30km north of the city of Mombasa, to meet the street children and also to provide training for the caddies involved with the programme.

Thanks to the programme, a total of 44 children – 20 from the local village, and 24 from the streets of Mombasa – have now turned away from a life of drugs, crime and poverty, and recently European Tour Productions paid the project a visit to film their new lives.
