Golf fans attending next month’s British Masters supported by Sky Sports will be able to enjoy the action on and off the course at Woburn Golf Club for just £5 by using a special bus link from Milton Keynes to the tournament venue.

Z & S International have been appointed by The European Tour to operate the service during all four days of the world-class event from October 8-11, with passengers embarking at Milton Keynes Central Train Station and alighting at the entrance to the Championship Village at Woburn GC.

Buses run from bus stop Z6 at Milton Keynes Station between 07.00 and 13.00 with return journeys from Woburn between 14.00 and 20.00 on demand.

All return journeys cost just £5 and spectators need to retain and display their tickets on the return journey to avoid having to purchase a new ticket. Hospitality guests with access to the Duke of Bedford  Suite and the Poulter Pavilion can use the bus service free of charge by displaying their hospitality passes to the driver.

Spectators attending the tournament should be aware that the roads immediately around Woburn Golf Club are restricted to cars displaying official parking labels and event signs will direct traffic to the relevant car parks. Blue Badge (disabled) holders should look for Car Park 2.

For road travellers using the public car parks, Woburn can be reached by the following routes:-

• From Milton Keynes: follow the A5 southbound and exit at Little Brickhill junction and taking a left turn. The public car park is at the first right hand turn.

• From the Midlands (M1): follow the M1 past Milton Keynes and exit at Junction 14. Turn right onto the dual carriageway and follow AA signs through Milton Keynes, with directions thereafter as above.

• From the South (M1): Exit the M1 at Junction 13. Follow AA signs, taking the A4012 through Woburn village to the A5. Turn right onto the A5 and then exit for Little Brickhill. Turn right in Little Brickhill and once across the A5 the public car park will be signposted as the first right hand turn.

Although the top class action on the Marquess’ Course will be the main source of interest, the fan experience is also high on the list of priorities for the Tour, Sky Sports and Woburn Golf Club with fun for all the family in the Championship Village.

The focal point is sure to be the British Masters hub, which will incorporate the Tavistock Bistro, the Warsteiner Bar, the Food Court and the Sky Arts stage, which will host daily Q & A sessions with presenter Di Dougherty and the Zurich Insurance ‘Do You Love Golf’ lie detector test.

After play, the stage will become the domain for post-golf entertainment, featuring the AllStars on Sunday evening.

Another point of great interest will be the 14₂m Sky Sports Dome, which encases a mini Sky Sports Studio providing the live coverage of the action from Woburn and incorporating a nightly Masterclass at the close of play each evening.

Hilton Hotels have their Pit Stop Challenge; Western Union offer a Bunker Challenge and Photo Booth; Golf Austria are creating a Nearest the Pin Challenge and Mizuno provide nets for enthusiastic spectators to hit a few golf balls during a break from the action. IQ Digital will offer a phone charging service and online photo album.

As well as the customary food and beverage concessions, English sparkling wine company Nyetimber will bring their double decker bus to the site to entice those in need of refreshment.

Championship Director, Jamie Birkmyre, said: “We are delighted to bring new elements of fun and entertainment to the Village during this year’s British Masters supported by Sky Sports. The fans who use the special bus link from Milton Keynes Central Train Station will be dropped off at the entrance to the Championship Village and can experience all the golfing, and non-golfing, action during each day.

“Tournament golf nowadays is as much about the overall spectator experience as the action inside the ropes and The European Tour, Sky Sports and Woburn Golf Club have all combined with the event sponsors and suppliers to ensure a rewarding experience.”

Since its return was announced in March, the tournament has proved a big hit with the British public, with the opening round of the  tournament a complete ‘sell out’ following the ‘Sky Sports Thursday’ promotion, which offered 15,000 free tickets as part of the event’s aim to attract a new and existing audience to golf.

Discounted advance tickets are now on general sale for the final three rounds of the British Masters supported by Sky Sports. Any one day tickets, which can be used from Friday October 9 to Sunday October 11, cost £25 (£15 concession) before October 4. The full gate price is £30. Adult season tickets (Friday – Sunday) cost £65 (£35 concession) before October 4. The full gate price for a season ticket is £75 and spectators will be able to pay on the gate.
