Broberg breaks course record at Himmerland

David Horsey and Terry Pilkadaris continued to slug it out at the top of the leaderboard at the Made in Denmark on Sunday afternoon but it was Kristoffer Broberg who lit up Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort with a stunning 62.

Pilkadaris briefly joined Horsey at the top with a birdie on the second to move to 15 under, but the Englishman regained his one shot advantage on the third with a birdie of his own.

That meant the top two maintained a cushion over the chasing pack, which now contained Broberg after his flawless course record.

The Swede opened with a pair of pars but then racked up four birdies in a row and made another gain on the eighth to turn in 31.

He picked up further shots at the tenth and 11th to make it seven birdies in his last nine holes, but back-to-back pars stalled his momentum a little before the red numbers returned on the 14th.

Another birdie on the 16th got him to nine under for the day and he parred his way home to move into a share of fifth on 11 under, a remarkable 47-place surge up the leaderboard.

One shot above Broberg was Richard Green, who had three birdies and a bogey in his opening four holes, and John Parry who was one under through four holes.

Bradley Dredge was then alongside Broberg after two birdies in his opening four holes, a shot clear of Tom Lewis, Søren Kjeldsen and Chris Paisley.

Ryder Cup Captain Darren Clarke was part of the group at nine under after three birdies in his first six holes.
