British Heart Foundation (BHF) Scotland has been appointed the Official Charity of the 2024 Senior Open Presented by Rolex, which takes place at Carnoustie from July 25-28.
British Heart Foundation is Britain’s largest cardiovascular disease charity, with the aim of funding research to reach the ultimate goal of beating one of the world’s biggest killers. They have been funding science since 1961, supporting breakthroughs such as heart transplants, pacemakers, portable defibrillators, and valve replacements, which have all been part-funded by the British Heart Foundation.
The charity has teamed up with The Senior Open Presented by Rolex to raise money at Carnoustie this week, with all funds from the Long Putt, Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive challenges in the spectator village being pledged to the British Heart Foundation.
Edward Kitson, Championship Director of The Senior Open Presented by Rolex, said: “We are delighted to welcome the British Heart Foundation to this year’s Senior Open Presented by Rolex.
“They are a charity who have touched millions of peoples’ lives during their 63-year existence and their pioneering research is incredibly important in the quest to beat cardiovascular disease.
“We raised a substantial amount of money at Gleneagles two years ago, when they were again our Official Charity, and we aim to replicate that this year.”
David McColgan, Head of British Heart Foundation Scotland, said: “We're delighted to be partnering with the Senior Open this year. The profile it gives us allows us to engage with spectators and raise awareness and vital funds that will fund our life saving research.
“Carnoustie is also just a few miles from Dundee where we currently fund over £1.5 million worth of research, and just one of many research projects across Scotland.”
Spectators can contribute to the British Heart Foundation by taking part in the Long Putt, Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive Challenges or visiting their exhibition unit in the spectator village.
