BMW PGA Sporting Challenge

What do you get if you mix a BMW M135i, three sporting stars and a set of rugby posts?

BMW PGA Sporting Challenge

Answer, the BMW PGA Sporting Challenge.

Ahead of next month'sBMW PGA Championship, Tommy Fleetwood, England rugby international Ben Foden and racing driver/TV presenter Tiff Needell met at Wentworth to challenge each other to a trio of sporting challenges.

After a ‘Power Slide’ driving challenge from Tiff Needell and a couple of rugby challenges from Ben Foden, Tommy Fleetwood came up with the ultimate ‘golf meets rugby’ challenge – to chip a golf ball 40 yards and hit the crossbar of a set of rugby posts on the Practice Range at Wentworth Club.

Speaking after the event, Fleetwood commented: “It was a fun day and great to try out the other sports! You’ll have to watch the film to see how I got on, but I’m not expecting a call up from Stuart Lancaster any time soon. I’m really looking forward to this year’s BMW PGA Championship though; it’s the biggest event we have and has the best field of the year. Having seen Ben and Tiff’s golf skills today, I’m looking forward to seeing how they get on in the Pro-Am day, too.”

Ben Foden and Tiff Needell will both be competing in the BMW PGA Celebrity Pro-Am at Wentworth on Wednesday May 20, which is now firmly established as the star-studded official curtain raiser to the BMW PGA Championship (21-24 May), The European Tour’s flagship event.

Speaking ahead of playing in BMW PGA Pro-Am, Foden commented: “You’d think, having run out at Twickenham in front of 80,000 fans, I’d be used to playing in front of big crowds, but stepping up on that first tee at Wentworth is a very different experience. I played in the Pro-Am last year and was relieved to hit the fairway with my first drive. It’s a fantastic day and unbelievable to see what the professionals at the top level can do with the ball.”

Tiff Needell added: “Tommy and Ben did well in the Power Slide challenge; I’d say they scored pars, rather than birdies, but it was a great day. This will be my fourth BMW PGA Pro-Am. It really is a great day out; we get to play alongside our golfing heroes and there’s great interaction with the fans as well. It always amazes me how relaxed the Pros are ahead of such a big tournament.”

The BMW PGA Championship offers six days of high quality entertainment, including Official Practice Day, Celebrity Pro-Am and four rounds of compelling competition from May 19-24. For tickets and further information visit:www.BMWPGA.com.
