BMW PGA Championship - Day 1 Notes

DANNY WILLETT 65 (-6)
Willett is making his debut in the BMW PGA Championship. His front nine of 31 is the equal lowest of the day one of the Championship, alongside, S S P Chowrasia and Søren Kjeldsen.

RICHARD GREEN 66 (-5)
His best start in the Championship from his 14 appearances. His 66 is a career-low for the Championship, beating  his previous best of 67 (-5) in 2000 (twice), 2004 and 2007. This round is also his lowest opening round of his 2010 season.

ROSS FISHER 67 (-4)
Fisher is now 20 under par for his last five rounds in the Championship. Finished 16 under for his four rounds in 2009. His lowest opening round of the 2010 season, beating his rounds of 70 at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy and Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

*Both Willett and Fisher had nine birdies in their rounds of 65 and 67 respectively

MATTEO MANASSERO 71 (L)
The youngest player in the history of the Championship, aged 17, compiled his level par 71 with 12 pars, three birdies and three bogeys.

OTHER NOTES

  • The par five 18th witnessed a total of 16 eagles and 177 birdies during the 2009 tournament. Marc Warren made the first eagle of the newly remodeled 18th.
  • England's Paul Waring made the first birdie of the day when he made a three on the par four third hole. He was in the fourth group out and 27 holes had been played before the first birdie.
