BMW International Open: Day 1 in numbers

We knew there would be a lot of birdies and the opening day's play at Golfclub München Eichenried didn't disappoint. With 30 of the top 60 players in the 2015 Race To Dubai teeing it up, there's a lot on the line this week. Here's a look at the best facts and figures from the first round's play at the BMW International Open.

The state of play after a fine first day's play at the BMW International Open

65 - The low round of the day, tied by Lasse Jansen, Rafael Cabrera-Bello and Daniel Gaunt.

9 - Birdies for Cabrera-Bello in his opening round. The Spainard was one over par after four holes.

555 - Total birdies today along with 10 eagles. Ireland's Kevin Phelan (below) carded two of those eagles, at the fifth and 18th holes.

7 - Henrik Stenson's score at the 16th hole, his seventh hole of the day. Following that triple bogey the World Number Seven made six birdies and six pars to finish at five under par.

14- Fairways hit from the Swede today, the only player in the field to hit every fairway.

5,264 - miles of travel for Stenson and 14 other players who made the trip from the US Open.

319 - The yardage of the short par four 16th hole. However, it played tough today yielding 29 double bogeys or worse and playing to an average of 4.32, the hardest hole on day one.

97 - The distance, in yards, Craig Lee faced for his second shot on the par four 13th. The Scot went on to make the shot carding the only eagle on that hole today.

319 - The average driving distance of Merrick Bremner during today's round. 13 yards further than anyone else in the field.

8 - Players finished the day without dropping a shot: Jansen, Morrison, Riu, Goosen, Lawrie, Van Der Walt, Campillo, Hansen and Santos.

71.8 - The average score today at Golfclub München Eichenried. Of the 156 players that teed it up, 83 broke par and 37 broke 70. Yes, these guys are pretty good!
