Bachchan and Bhullar the star attractions in India

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan will add star quality to an already auspicious day in the state of Gujarat’s golfing history on Wednesday when he inaugurates the first European Challenge Tour event to be played on Indian soil.

The star-studded Pro-Am at Kensville Golf and Country Club in Ahmedabad, India, will act as the curtain-raiser to the inaugural €200,000 Gujarat Kensville Challenge, which gets underway on Thursday.

Amongst those teeing up are India’s leading player Jeev Milkha Singh, the country’s flag bearer who in conjunction with Col KD Bagga designed the course at Kensville Golf Club.

Some of the marquee players on display alongside Milkha Singh will be rising star Ashok Kumar, the leading professional on the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) Order of Merit, Asian Tour regular Gaganjeet Bhullar, Asian Tour winner Mohd Siddikur Rahman from Bangladesh, former Indian Number One Mukesh Kumar and former Indian Open winner Vijay Kumar, as well as 2010 Challenge Tour champions Charlie Ford of England and Italy’s Alessandro Tadini.

Former India wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani is amongst an esteemed group of amateurs who will vie for honours in the Pro-Am.
