Argentario Golf Club will host the Italian Challenge Open when the Road to Mallorca heads to Italy from September 19-22, 2024.
Argentario Golf Club, part of the exclusive five-star Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort, offers a varied, spectacular, and technically challenging prospect and the venue will welcome the Italian Open on the DP World Tour in 2025.
The strategic layout, which has received the Bioagricert environmental certification for sustainability and water management, requires golfers to weave in and out of natural mediterranean vegetation and ancient olive groves, whilst offering remarkable views of the Orbetello Lagoon.
Jamie Hodges, Challenge Tour Director, said: “We’re delighted to announce that this year’s Italian Challenge Open will be taking place at Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort.
“The Italian Challenge Open has provided us with some magical moments in the Challenge Tour’s history, none more so than last year when we witnessed Matteo Manassero triumph on home soil on his way to securing a return to the DP World Tour.
“Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort offers one of the best golfing experiences in Italy and the golf course will provide a true test for our members, before hosting the Italian Open on the DP World Tour in 2025.
“I’m excited at the prospect of taking the Challenge Tour to this fantastic venue and our thanks must go to the Federazione Italiana Golf, the promoter Alessandro Rogato, as well as the entire team at Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort. Through our collective partnership and teamwork, we are looking forward to delivering a memorable event.”
Franco Chimenti, President of the Federazione Italiana Golf, said: "After the success of the 2023 edition of the Italian Challenge Open, which saw Matteo Manassero triumph at the National Golf Club, I hope that Italian players will be able to compete for victory at the Argentario Golf Club as well. I am sure that the golf club will rise to the occasion so as to better prepare for the Italian Open the following year.
"The great champions of the Challenge Tour and the DP World Tour will compete on one of the most spectacular golf courses in Italy. After the extraordinary experience of the Ryder Cup, another international showcase only confirms Italy's strong tourist vocation in the area of golf course offerings."
Augusto Orsini, President of Argentario Golf Club: "We are honoured to host the Italian Challenge Open from September 19-22 on the Argentario courses and we are grateful to the Italian Golf Federation and the Challenge Tour for choosing our club for such a prestigious sporting event."
The Italian Challenge Open will be the 26th event on the Road to Mallorca international schedule, which comprises 30 events and culminates in the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A. The top 20 players on the Road to Mallorca Rankings will earn DP World Tour playing rights for the 2025 season.
