The Ambassador welcomed among his guests André Jordan, responsible for the creation and construction of high quality golf courses and facilities in Portugal including San Lorenzo, Quinta do Lago, the Millennium and Victoria courses in the Algarve, the refurbishment of the famous Old Course in Vilamoura and the beautifuil new course at Belas Clube de Campo, in addition to representatives from The European Tour and members of the media.

The European Senior Tour is returning to Portugal after a three year absence. The Senior Open de Portugal with a prize fund of 300,000 euros will be the eighth Senior Tour event overall to be staged in the country. Belas Golf Club is owned by the Andre Jordan Group and previously hosted the European Challenge Tour Grand Final in 1998.

André Jordan, an Honorary Member of the Portuguese Golf Federation and a former Chairman of the Board of CNIG, the organisation of golf course owners in Portugal, said: "We are delighted to be hosting another European Senior Tour event, this time on our Lisbon course. After several Portuguese Opens we organised in Quinta do Lago, the World Cup in Vilamoura, and having brought the Portuguese Masters to Victoria Golf Club in 2006, we are looking forward to hosting this great tournament at our course at Belas."

Jordan also presented his new book - "Ahead of the Game" - which he describes as "a human interest story told beautifully" and in which he points out that he is "gratified to see the burgeoning evolution of golf in Portugal with a growing number of young people taking up the game."
