Felipe Aguilar picked up two early birdies to open up a one-shot lead during the final round of the Volvo China Open at Topwin Golf and Country Club.

The Chilean came into Sunday in a share of the lead with Dane Lucas Bjerregaard and gains on the first and third moved him to 18 under after three holes in round four.

Putts of around 12 and 15 feet handed Aguilar his two gains while Bjerregaard made a brilliant approach to the third, where he had holed his second shot for eagle on Saturday, to get to 17 under.

A win for Bjerregaard would be his first on The European Tour, while Aguilar is searching for a third almost two years to the day since he came home in 28 with a birdie-eagle finish to win The Championship at Laguna National.

Local favourite Li Haotong had a birdie on the third to get to 15 under, with Richard Bland, 2011 champion Nicolas Colsaerts, Scott Hend, Tyrrell Hatton and Alex Noren a further shot back.

Australian Hend finished in a tie for fourth in Shenzhen last week and he made a brilliant start with five birdies in his first six holes. He then dropped a shot at the seventh but picked it back up at the eighth to turn in 31.

Englishman Bland is seeking a first European Tour win at the 382nd time of asking and he birdied the second and third to be two under for the day through five holes.

Colsarts, Hatton and Noren were all level par for the day through three holes.

Miguel Angel Jiménez had five birdies in his first 11 holes to get to 13 under alongside Thorbjørn Olesen and Romain Wattel who both turned in 32.

David Lipsky was also at 13 under having picked up three shots in nine holes, alongside Haydn Porteous, Marcel Siem and Grégory Havret.

Brett Rumford was nine under after seven holes and was celebrating the third hole-in-one of the week and 19th of the season as he needed just one blow on the par three 13th.
