Adam Blommé is hoping that home comforts can inspire him to a maiden European Challenge Tour win when he tees it up at the Dormy Open at Askersunds Golfklubb in Sweden this week.
The Swede, playing in just his second full season on the Challenge Tour, has registered six top ten finishes from 18 starts in 2023 and currently sits in seventh on the Road to Mallorca Rankings.
The 27-year-old is well-placed to earn promotion to the DP World Tour, and with friends and family out in full force this week, he’s focussed on securing a first win to help him achieve that goal.
“I’m still looking for that win,” he said. “I have a second place and third, and a few top ten finishes, but it would be good to get a win.
“I always want to be first, but seventh in the Rankings is okay for now.
“I have some family members coming out for the week, so I’ll have a few people here looking out for me. I also have a very good friend from college that’s here to caddy for me. Me and my girlfriend are hosting him and his wife so it’s very nice."
Blommé climbed into first place in the Rankings at the beginning of the season with back-to-back top tens. A second place finish at the Dimension Data Pro-Am was followed by solo seventh at the SDC Open a week later, and he’s remained in the top ten of the Rankings ever since.
The Swede is hopeful that hard work and planning will help him continue what has already been an impression season as the Dormy Open visits Askersunds for the first time.
“I’ll just keep doing what works for me and do what me and my coach have agreed on this week,” he added. “I’ll do what I have to do and if it takes me to the top, it takes me to the top.
“We’ve been a little unlucky with the weather as it’s been raining a lot, but the course is looking beautiful.”
Blommé joins a strong field in Sweden that includes fellow countryman and Road to Mallorca Number 11 Jesper Svensson, two-time DP World Tour winner Lucas Bjerregaard and seven-time DP World Tour winner Alvaro Quiros.
Round one gets under way at 7:30am local time with Blommé teeing it up alongside Spanish duo Emilio Cuartero Blanco and Manuel Elvira at 8:30am.
