The Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open returns to Gullane Golf Club on July 11-15, 2018, and it promises to be a great experience for the whole family with a wide range of activities for fans of all ages. Next week, the world class golf will be the main attraction, but the entertainment doesn’t stop there.
As you enter the golf course either through the West Links Road or Sandy Loan entrance, which opens on the pro-am day known as Tartan Wednesday, you’ll find a host of fun activities .
The West Links Village is home to the SixtDrive Smuglong drive simulator where fans can compete for the longest drive record. Climbing walls, games and obstacle courses in the Kids Zone are guaranteed to keep children of all ages entertained throughout the day.
If you’re visiting on Tartan Wednesday, you’ll see a host of sports and entertainment stars teeing it up alongside some of the world’s best golfers, including footballing legend Sir Kenny Dalglish, Scottish rugby star Gavin Hastings, Sam McTrusty of Scottish rock band Twin Atlantic, TV presenter Naga Munchetty and actor James Nesbitt. Fans are encouraged to join the celebrities and golfers in donning their best tartan, all in aid of the official charities My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and Leuchie House.
The West Links Village is also the place to be for food and drink, with products from local suppliers including the brand-new Edinburgh Gin stand, where you can taste their hugely popular product.
The activities continuewith the return of the ever-popular golf clinics hosted by some of the players competing in the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open.
Gullane will also be home be home to some exciting new additions including a Disc Golf Course in the Golf Coast View Village which will allow spectators to enjoy a quick round before heading back out to take in the world-class action on the Championship Course .

The two main bars on-site arethe West Links Bar and the East Coast Bar, which are located in two tented villages. This year there is an addition of three more exciting new bars; Edinburgh Gin will have a stationary bar at the West Links Village as well as their Tipple Trailer, which will be located at the back of the par three 12thgreen. Through a new partnership with Tennent’s Lager, there will be a brand new “T ON 17” Bar that will stock a wealth of alcoholic beverages.
This year’s tournament is supporting two official charities: The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and Leuchie House. My Name’5 Doddie Foundation was launched by one of rugby’s most recognisable personalities, Doddie Weir, and his trustees following his diagnosis with motor neurone disease to raise funds to aid research into the causes of the disease and investigate potential cures. Leuchie House, a charity local to Gullane Golf Club, is Scotland’s only dedicated respite centre and offers caring respite breaks to people with long term neurological conditions, including motor neurone disease.
