"A full European Tour event would be a dream come true"

Another of the Challenge Tour’s fledgling Frenchmen, Eduoard Dubois, answers our questions as he reflects on a season that has taken him to second in the Rankings and lays down his hopes for the future.

How would you sum up your campaign so far?

“It has been a great year for me and it has been a little bit of a surprise as I did not expect to win two events in one year when I started out.

“Unfortunately, I think that I missed too many cuts so in general the season has been some good and some bad but I think it is fair to say more good than bad!”

How would you rate this Challenge Tour season in comparison to the previous seasons in your professional career?

“I think last year for me was also a good one because, while I didn’t get so many high finishes, I was working from a lower category so I was delighted to earn a full Challenge Tour card for 2011.

“But this year I have won two tournaments so I believe I am making big steps and now I want to go on and progress further.

Greatest moment of the year?

“The first win (at the Kärnten Golf Open presented by Mazda) in June was a very nice one as I was five shots behind the leader going into the final day and then shot a 63, which was fantastic.

“But the second win was also incredible for me as I only had one bogey for the whole week, so that was one of the best performances I’ve ever had in any tournament so they were both very special for me in different ways.”

Aims for the rest of the year?

“My first aim would be to win another tournament so that I can gain my European Tour card that way. That would be incredible.

“If not, I just want to stay in the top ten in the Challenge Tour Rankings and qualify through that route, but I also want to bring some more consistency into my game as I know I will definitely need that going forward.

“To start making more cuts and playing four days regularly is very important to me.”

Aims beyond 2011?

“I desperately want to be on The European Tour next season and then all I want to do is have more consistency and keep my card for the following year. After that we will see!

“But I do hope I can make a big impact on The European Tour because I have still never played a full European Tour event.

“I played in the Madeira Islands Open and the Saint Omer Open but, of course, they are for Challenge Tour players, so to play my first full European Tour event will be a dream come true.”
