Jordan Smith joined the lead, Jens Dantorp was looking to take the next step, Jeff Winther experienced some cruelty and we had more chip-ins on day three of the BMW International Open.
Here is everything you need to know from Saturday at Golfclub München Eichenried.
Tied at the top
Smith carded an excellent 66 to join Ewen Ferguson at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round. Ferguson entered day three with a two-shot lead and while a 71 kept him at the summit at 14 under, Smith reeled him in as he recovered from an early bogey with five birdies and an eagle. Swede Dantorp signed for a 64 to sit one shot back at 13 under alongside France's Romain Langasque, one clear of Australian David Micheluzzi, American Patrick Reed and England's Matthew Southgate. Both Smith and Ferguson will be hunting a third DP World Tour title on Sunday but they will have plenty of competition, with 15 players within five shots of the lead.
Dantorp looking to take the next step
Dantorp has three wins on the European Challenge Tour and last season finished second at the Soudal Open en route to a first top 50 finish on the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex. The 35-year-old carded the lowest round of the day by two shots on Saturday, matching the lowest round of the week as he shot up the leaderboard to within one of the lead. And with career and event both on an upward trajectory, he is now aiming for a first DP World Tour victory. “It was good," said. "Always nice to have a nice moving day. It’s been a long time since I’ve done that, so it’s always nice and good to be in the mix tomorrow.”
