For the first time since 2019, the Volvo China Open is returning to the DP World Tour schedule at Hidden Grace Golf Club in Shenzhen.

Organised by the China Golf Association and co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the China Tour, the tournament will showcase a diverse field of accomplished and rising stars from around the world of golf.

Home favourites Ashun Wu and Haotong Li are both teeing it up alongside fellow former champions Nicolas Colsaerts and Alexander Levy at the final stop of the Asian Swing.

Swede Jesper Svensson, a winner during the swing in Singapore last month, is also in action, as are established DP World Tour regulars such as Pablo Larrazábal and Jordan Smith.

If you have not done so already, you can sign up to play the official 2024 DP World Tour Fantasy game and submit your six-man team before round one gets under way on Thursday: https://fantasy.dpworldtour.com/

The 2024 season-long winner will win a trip to the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai next year, enjoy a lesson with a DP World Tour professional and a round of golf on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates. For more information on this amazing prize and others, read here.

Fantasy Prize

Here, we pick out three players in action this week who are worth considering for your Fantasy team selections.

Favourite - Jordan Smith

On track to qualify for next month's U.S. PGA Championship by virtue of his world ranking, the Englishman arrives in China lying 23rd on the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex.

So far this season, Smith's best performance came at the Jonsson Workwear Open when he finished in a share of second in South Africa.

Another top 10 came at the start of the year when he finished solo fourth at the Dubai Invitational.

But it is his form in China on recent appearances at this event that make him our pick as Favourite, having notably finished in a tie for fifth at this week's venue in Shenzhen in 2019.

With just two missed cuts in his nine starts so far this season, it would be no surprise to see the 31-year-old play his way into contention for his third DP World Tour title and first since the Portugal Masters in 2022.

Form Horse - Sebastian Söderberg

With his second consecutive runner-up finish on the Asian Swing in Japan, the Swede climbed to eighth on the season-long Race to Dubai Rankings.

More notably, however, he climbed to the summit of the swing rankings and put himself in prime position to assure himself a spot in the field for next month's second Major Championship of the season.

Even before his back-to-back runner-up finishes in India and Japan, Söderberg has produced a series of notable performances so far this season.

The 33-year-old, who has climbed to a career-high 98th on the world rankings, finished in the top 10 in Mauritius, Ras Al Khaimah and Bahrain.

While he may have missed the cut in his only previous appearance at this event on this week's layout, he has been a picture of consistency so far this campaign and will hope to maintain his record of playing in every round possible on the 2024 Race to Dubai.

Wild Card - Alexander Levy

The Frenchman is the only player to have won the Volvo China Open twice since its inception in 1995.

Victory in 2014 at Hidden Grace Golf Club, formerly Genzon Golf Club, was his maiden success on the DP World Tour.

Since the second of his two triumphs at Topwin Golf & Country Club in 2017, he won his fifth and most recent DP World Tour title at the Trophée Hassan II in 2018.

After returning to action at the start of last year following a lengthy injury-enforced absence, Levy lost his DP World Tour card at the end of last season.

But he has enjoyed a strong start to life back on the Challenge Tour, with his fourth consecutive top 10 in the UAE Challenge over the weekend ensuring the 33-year is second on the Road to Mallorca Rankings ahead of playing this week on the DP World Tour.

Fantasy Insight: As it stands, Sebastian Söderberg is the favourite among players of our Fantasy Game this week, featuring in 60% of teams. Other popular players include Tom McKibbin (47%) and Yannik Paul (39%).

Li Haotong, who won his maiden DP World Tour title at this tournament in 2016, is the fourth most picked player from those in the field, featuring in 36% of Fantasy teams.

Looking back - ISPS - HANDA CHAMPIONSHIP

At the penultimate event of the Asian Swing, home hope Yuto Katsuragawa proved a surprise winner among Fantasy users as he delivered 213 points for the 2.2% of users that picked him.

Matthieu Pavon, our Favourite, finished in a tie for 28th as he scored 146 points.

Last week's Form Horse Jesper Svensson was unable to continue his good run of results on the DP World Tour as the European Challenge Tour graduate missed the cut in Japan.

There also wasn't much success for those who went with our Wild Card recommendation as Ryo Ishikawa missed out on the final two rounds on home soil.

Tom McKibbin climbed to fifth on the season-long Fantasy charts, racking up 164 points as the Northern Irishman recorded his third top five in his last five starts on the DP World Tour.
